I think it mostly comes from 2 factors (atleast for me): How much you train your brain to be able to pull out something that sounds good and if you're trying to force yourself to work instead of letting yourself have fun doing it. If you don't let yourself to have a good time while doing it you won't really get anything, but still, if you just do whatever you're not gonna get better so you still have to train. I've seen that the more you write down stuff from your head, the better you get t it.

fair 'nuff! the class i took did cover music theory, but i think my struggle is maybe that i overcomplicate the concepts for myself. i always have issues with perfectionism when i'm creating stuff so its very likely i need to just take a step back and study a bit more

Just listening to a whole bunch of music genres and keeping an open mind helps a whole lot. also basics of music theory helps a whole lot and practice practice practice

addendum #2 but like. argh!!! cause specifically, inspiration-wise, i want to make stuff that sounds akin to FFXIII, Xenoblade 1, YS VI, and Bravely Default (so very jrpg type sounds but with, a specific sound to them) and its like argh... i used to have the potential
